MAN-010 G-3 Gei Drei

Gei-Drei. What does it mean?......... How should I know! Haha! Anyway, the kit is sort of a weird hybrid of the Nightengale and the Quebeley MS in my humble opinion. It's got such a creepy insect quality about it though. However , the design itself screams Zeon! So,  I'll be painting it in green hues, that will be determined later on. It'll also be adorned with Zeon markings and warning decals. It's detaild out to the max and hase a nice chest armor piece to cover the pipes, tubes and whirly-gigs! Very sweet stuff. Have to Thank NKG and AKO hobby for providing a Kick @$$ kit as a prize.

When I first got the kit, I had never seen or heard of it. So I scoured the web and http://www.mahq.net for additional info. This MS from what I've gathered is a design from Kondo's Zeta Side Story, which may or may not be part of the original continuity but a parallel time line or Alternate period where the Zeta Gundam MS is procured by the Zeon's. I was able to score a couple books from Rinkya Yahoo Japan Auctions. the First "Go Ahead" is an old Hobby Japan Mook and the manga is published from Dengeki Comics, Zeta Side Story of Gundam. This has provided lots of great context and some ideas for painting and displays.

EDIT: Anyone with any additional info on Zeta Side Story is more than welcomed to contact me- nocturnalman07@hotmail.com

WHY am I doing this? Why bother turning a fixed pose resin kit into a semi-full-action kit. Simple. When I read through the instructions, the last page had a picture of the MA form. From there I was on a mission to find the best poly-ball/joint parts to make the idea a reality. Well.....somewhat. It is happening though.

It turns out that when I started this project I didn't really account for how heavy this dang resin can be. Duh!  I really noticed the weight of it once I modified the large skirt/armor/hull and the shoulder armor pieces. For the shoulder armor pieces, I used some plastruct tubbing I got from my local hobby store to make some custom supports for the shoulder joints. As long as the positioning is right on it, it works. Very well too! Again, I'm just modding it so It can stand and look cool and then transform it to a Mobile Armor. It's not an action figure!

So....the bottom line? What's the final idea for this? A base? Other mods? What the heck are you gonna do!!???!!!?!?! Stay tuned to find out! :-P
